My youngest grandchild (my son't first child and only a few months old) has been in hospital overnight in the UK. Seems he had some sort of spasm, threw up everywhere and his lips went blue for a while. His blood pressure shot up and so the doctors are keeping him in overnight for observation. We're obviously all a bit worried.

Nothing lasts forever.

Woolworths stopped selling one of my favourite biscuits...'Morning Coffee'.

Coles still sells them though, for now.

Slowly my favourite brands of everything are being replaced by the suprmarkets' own brand items.

Baaah!

You might get an even bigger shock when you carefully read the back of some of your favorite products to find they are now Halal compliant. Mind you on some products this is not declared in English but either in Arabic or a Symbol without any explanation.

I bought a can of Aldi spaghetti that has "Do not lick the lid" on it.

So what?

Hey Mutation..we had the Halal discussion ages ago on Chocolate, from memory it was bambu - then Banjo - who kicked it off

So..what's the issue if it is Hala OK'd ?.l..just means that more consumers can buy and enjoy the product
If you live in WA and eat Inghams chicken, it's all Halal OK'd as well...and trust me, the money is not heading anywhere but into the familiy's coffers - and into charities they support.

Well the answer to that depends of how you view Islam. If you view it as a benign religion full of peace and love then Halal just represents more of the same. If you view Islam for what it is a violent, medieval, misogynistic cult that worships a murdering pedophile and is hell bent on total world domination and submission of all people then Halal as benign as it might seem on a product label is just the thin end of the wedge.

Well here you have it from the man himself

"Those who know nothing about Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those people are witless. Islam says: 'Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all!' Does this mean that Muslims should sit back until they are devoured by the infidel? Islam says: 'Kill them, put them to the sword and scatter them.' Islam says: 'Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword.' The sword is the key to Paradise, which can be opened only for the Holy Warriors! Does all this mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim." Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini

Brand names twice the price of no-name groceries, research finds

HOUSEHOLDS are paying twice the price for branded groceries no different to no-names, new Federal Government research shows.

Based on that finding, Consumer Affairs Minister Craig Emerson said a family that switched to generics could save as much as $450 a year, according to Treasury analysis of consumer spending, The Herald Sun reports.

With Australians facing the fastest-rising supermarket prices in the developed world, the Government has been under pressure to find ways to save consumers money. Late last year Dr Emerson began an investigation into the price differential between comparable brands and non-brand.

This culminated with a supermarket shopping study that showed private-label staples - including eggs, milk, flour and sugar - were on average half the cost of the branded equivalents sitting beside them on the shelves. The home-brand items bought at Coles were 52 per cent cheaper. At Woolworths the saving was 49 per cent. In many cases the no-name was barely a third of the price.

I suppose I could sift through the Old Testament for you... ignoring the actual Talmud itself... and find just a few references to slaughtering men women and children etc....

How many examples  would satisfy you? I have as many as you need.
I have no doubt of the content of the bible but the difference is christians are not compelled to go around stoning people or worse because of ancient religious law!
I dont know why you seem to want to stand up for Islam but i would be interested to hear.
